Common questions about the test
How accurate is the CEFR level result?+
The test uses 11 scored questions covering all four skills to estimate your CEFR level from A1 to C2. It is a diagnostic tool — not an official CEFR exam. However, it is carefully calibrated to the CEFR descriptors and gives a strong starting point for placement. An official placement test at Boston Institute confirms your exact level.
What is CEFR and why does it matter?+
CEFR stands for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is the international standard for describing language ability, used by universities, employers, immigration authorities, and language schools worldwide. Levels run from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Mastery). Knowing your CEFR level helps you choose the right course and set realistic goals.
Do I need English to take this test?+
The test is written in English, so you need at least a very basic understanding of written English. If you can read simple sentences, you can complete it. The A1-level options are designed to be accessible even to near-beginners.
What happens after I submit my details?+
You will immediately see your CEFR level, skill breakdown, and 8-week roadmap on screen. A personalised PDF report will be emailed to the address you provide, usually within a minute. The PDF includes your full roadmap and course recommendation.
What courses does Boston Institute offer for my level?+
