Both tests serve different purposes, and choosing the right one can make a huge difference in reaching your goals. In this blog, we'll break it down clearly and in simple terms so you'll know exactly which path fits your journey.
IELTS is not just another test — it's a doorway. Whether you wish to pursue studies, find a skilled visa job, or immigrate to Australia permanently, English proficiency evidence is mandatory.
IELTS Academic: required for university applications, postgraduate study, and professional registration (medicine, nursing, teaching). The reading and writing tasks use complex, academic-style texts. IELTS General Training: used for migration (skilled visas, family reunion), trade training, and secondary education. Writing tasks focus on letters and more general topics.
If you're unsure which to choose, our advisors at Boston Institute can guide you based on your specific visa subclass or institution requirements. We offer preparation courses for both IELTS Academic and General Training.
